(脱氧)核苷是由结合于核糖或脱氧核糖的碱基如嘌呤或嘧啶组成的糖基胺,核糖或脱氧核糖是环状戊糖。它们的实例包括胞苷、尿苷、腺苷、鸟苷、胸苷和肌苷。核苷类似物被广泛用作抗病毒剂和抗癌剂,因为它们在RNA或DNA合成中能够用作反转录酶抑制剂或链终止剂。核苷磷酸化酶是广泛分布于哺乳动物细胞和细菌中并在核苷代谢补救途径中起关键作用的转移酶。它们具有双重功能。在一方面,它们在无机磷酸盐存在下催化核糖核苷或脱氧核糖核苷的糖苷键的可逆切割,目的是生成碱基和核糖-1-磷酸或脱氧核糖-1-磷酸。在另一方面,这些酶催化嘌呤或嘧啶碱基和核苷之间的磷酸依赖的戊糖转移,即转糖基反应,以产生具有不同碱基的核苷。6-疏基嘌呤核苷为核甘的一种。
6-Thioinosine (6TI) 是一种嘌呤抗代谢物,为抗脂肪形成剂,能够降低 PPAR γ 和 C/EBPα 及其目标基因 LPL,CD36,aP2 和 LXRα 的 mRNA 水平。
