Barley grows wild in Asia and parts of Ethiopia. It is cultivated in many parts of the world.
Uses
Barley is a cereal grain of which there are winter and spring types. it is used in malting (the conversion of grain to malt used in beer production) as malted barley. malt flour is used in baking, cereals, and sauces. pearled barley, in which the hull and outer kernel are removed by abrasive action, is found in barley soups. barley flour and flakes are used in baked products. barley is high in carbohy- drates and contains protein, calcium, phosphorus, and b vitamins.
