FERRITE Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Definition
ferrite: A member of a class ofmixed oxides MO.Fe2O3, where M is ametal such as cobalt, manganese, nickel, or zinc. The ferrites are ceramicmaterials that show either ferrimagnetismor ferromagnetism, butare not electrical conductors. Forthis reason they are used in highfrequencycircuits as magnetic cores.
Industrial uses
A ferrite is any of the class of magnetic oxides.Typically, the ferrites have a crystal structurethat has more than one type of site for the cations. Usually the magnetic moments of themetal ions on sites of one type are parallel toeach other, and antiparallel to the moments onat least one site of another type. Thus, ferritesexhibit ferromagnetism.
