2,2-Dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride is a carbonic acid derivative that is used as an anti-inflammatory drug. It inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) and interleukin 1β (IL1β). The synthesis of 2,2-dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride involves the reaction of cycloaliphatic compounds with halogenated alkyl amines in the presence of a catalyst. The structure of 2,2-dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride has been studied using x-ray crystallography. Its tautomeric form is a heterocycle with nitrogen atoms and zirconium. This compound has been shown to have a high affinity for metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) and can be used as cocatalyst for ZrCl4 in the synthesis of zeolites.
