Production method

From phenol; Epichlorohydrin is obtained by condensation in the presence of sodium hydroxide. Phenol; Sodium hydroxide;Stir until completely dissolved, cool to 5-6℃, slowly add epichlorohydrin. The mixture was stirred at 25℃ for 45h, thereactants were extracted with ether, and the extract was dried with anhydrous potassium carbonate and filtered. The ethylether was recovered from the filtrate, distilled under vacuum, and the fraction collected at 120-123℃ (1.46kPa) wasepoxy-propyl phenyl ether.

Use

This product is used as an active thinner for epoxy resin adhesives. It is also used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.The amount of diluent used as an epoxy adhesive is 10% to 15% of the adhesive stock (mass).
