At room temperature, put 5.948 kg 4-methyl-5-(β-acetoxyethyl)-thiazole into a 100L reactor,Add 50L of toluene to dissolve, add 1.54kg of sodium hydroxide and add 10L of water, stir until the reaction is complete,Adjust the pH to slightly acidic, extract with dichloromethane, and distill under reduced pressure to obtain crude 4-methyl-5-(β-hydroxyethyl)-thiazole, which is purified by distillation to obtain 4.3 kg of 100% pure product.
