General procedure for esterification
General procedure: To a stirred solution of carboxylic acid (5 mmol) and alcohol (5 mmol) in a 100 mL RB flask, was added 25 mg of ZnO Nps. The reaction mixture was stirred at 95 °C for 2 h and the course of the reaction was monitored by TLC. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered through a filter paper for separating the catalyst and the filtrate was quenched with ice water. The aqueous phase was extracted twice with 50 mL of dichloromethane and the organic layer was washed with 50 mL of aqueous solution of 1 M NaHCO3 followed by the 50 mL brine solution. Finally, it was dried over sodium sulfate and the required product was purified by column chromatography using silica gel to get the ester
