Yield:812-01-1 41%

Reaction Conditions:

with sulfuryl dichloride at 0 - 20; for 2.5 h;Inert atmosphere;

Steps:

Methyl chlorosulfate preparation
An equimolar amount of dry methanol (5 mL, 0.12 mol) was slowly added over 30 min to sulfuryl chloride (10 mL, 0.12 mol) under argon at 0 °C. After complete addition, the mixture was allowed to stir for 2 h at room temperature with a continuous argon flux to remove hydrogen chloride. The resulting liquid was distilled (b.p.=54-55 °C, 30 Torr; lit: 48.1 °C, 29 Torr) affording the title compound (6.7 g, 41% yield).
