Add indoline-2,3-dione (1g, 6.87mmol) to a 100ml round bottom flask, add an aqueous solution (7.2ml) of KOH (3.6g, 54.4mmol), stir for 5 minutes and add 12ml Acetone was heated to reflux overnight.
