INCANINE Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Description
This alkaloid, and its N-oxide (q.v.), have been isolated from Heliotropium olgae Bge., and Trichodesma incanum (Bge.) D.C. The base forms colourless crystals from Me2CO and has a specific rotation of [α]D 38.76° (c 1.625, EtOH). It forms a number of crystalline salts and derivatives, e.g. the hydrochloride, m.p. 199°C; hydrobromide, m.p. 206-8°C; hydriodide, m.p. 206-7°C; nitrate, m.p. 182°C; aurichloride, m.p. 154°C; picrate, m.p. 246°C and the methiodide, m.p. 227-8°C.
