개요

A strychnine type alkaloid from Strychnos psilosperrna, the base yields clusters of colourless needles from aqueous MeOH. It is dextrorotatory with [α]D+ 58° (c 2.07, CHCI3). It yields crystalline salts and derivatives including the hydro_x0002_chloride, m.p. 330-2°C (dec.); picrate, m.p. 254°C (dec.) and the methiodide, m.p. 335°C (dec.). Oxidation with H20 2 gives the N-oxide as colourless needles from boiling H20, m.p. 261-3°C (dec.).
