Preparation | Preparation by Fries rearrangement of p-fluorophenyl propionate (b.p.18–20 118–120°) with aluminium chloride at 150° for 1 h (80–81%) or at reflux for 30 min (57%) Also obtained by demethylation of 5-fluoro-2-methoxy-propiophenone (b.p.13 132°) with refluxing pyridinium chloride for 15 min (76%). |
